Description

Orientation is offered on 6 one day sessions (8:30am-1:30pm):

  • Session 1 - Tuesday, June 27, 2017
  • Session 2 - Thursday, June 29, 2017
  • Session 3 - Tuesday, July 18, 2017
  • Session 4 - Thursday, July 20, 2017
  • Session 5 - Tuesday, August 15, 2017
  • Session 6 - Thursday, August 17, 2017

Orientation is a required program for incoming Freshmen and Transfer students (optional for parents) that helps students get ready for the start of school. At orientation, we will cover the topics that will help you prepare for and successfully navigate your first year at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (formerly known as Our Lady of the Lake College). Readmitted and continuing students who have already taken classes at Our Lady of the Lake College are not required to attend another orientation session. Students taking only online classes are not required to attend.

Orientation is required to provide all new students with information about being a successful college student at the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (formerly known as Our Lady of the Lake College). You will learn specifics about the university’s academic requirements and all the campus resources available to you. If you have not already registered for classes you will do so at the conclusion of orientation. If you have registered and need to make any class schedule changes such as adding a class or changing a section, you will be able to do this at the conclusion of the session.

Parents are not required to attend, but we strongly encourage parents, guardians, significant others and/or other family members to attend. So much information is new and sometimes confusing; it really helps to have at least two sets of ears.

What to bring? How to prepare?

  • All necessary materials you will need for the day will be provided.
  • Dress for orientation is casual and comfortable. We suggest you bring a light sweater in case the room temperature becomes cool. An optional student guided walking tour will be available at the conclusion of orientation so wear comfortable shoes if you'd like to take a walk around and learn the layout of your campus.
  • While on campus you may obtain your student ID.
  • In order to secure your parking tag, you will need your current drivers license and your license plate number.
  • Lunch will be provided.

Orientation is conducted in the Biological Learning Research Building located at 5222 Brittany Dr., Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA 70808
